Welcome to Teal AI. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

1. Information We Collect

When you use our app, we collect three main types of information:

• Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your full name, email address, and a secure password.
• Interaction and Sync Data: To provide the interactive audiobook experience and allow you to resume your progress, we collect and store specific interaction data. This includes the current chapter, playback speed, latest timestamp, and the history of your queries and the AI's generated responses for each individual book you interact with. This data is associated with your account to enable cross-device and cross-session synchronization.
• User-Uploaded Content: To enable cross-device and cross-session synchronization, we collect and store the materials you choose to upload, which may include raw text, URLs, and PDF documents. This data is securely stored in our cloud infrastructure under your unique user ID.

2. Microphone and Voice Data

Teal AI requires microphone access to allow for hands-free navigation and interaction. We do not record, save, or store your raw audio data on our servers. The app listens locally to detect commands, and only the transcribed text of your specific queries (as detailed in Section 1) is transmitted to our servers to generate a response.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes:

• Account Information: To create and manage your account, secure your data, and provide customer support.
• User-Uploaded Content: To synchronize your reading materials across your devices and sessions. Our automated systems process this uploaded content to generate anonymized data for service improvement. However, our human team members will never manually view or access the raw, identifiable contents of your uploaded documents or articles unless you explicitly request customer support or debugging assistance, at which point we will only access the specific data necessary to resolve your issue.
• Interaction Data, Syncing & Service Improvement: To provide the core functionality of the app, including restoring your specific reading progress and conversation history for each book across sessions and devices. We also use automated systems to process and highly anonymize aggregated interaction data and uploaded text to improve the quality, accuracy, and performance of our AI models.

4. Data Anonymization

We strongly believe in data minimization. Any Interaction Data (your questions, the book context, and the AI's answers) or User-Uploaded Content used for quality improvement and AI training purposes is strictly anonymized. We intentionally do not associate your specific reading interactions, questions, or raw document uploads with your Account Information (your name or email address) for these purposes.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We only share data with trusted third-party service providers (such as cloud hosting and secure database providers) strictly as necessary to operate the service, and they are bound by confidentiality agreements.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your Account Information, User-Uploaded Content, and anonymized usage data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

7. Managing Your Data and Account Deletion

You have the right to control, manage, and delete your personal data at any time.

• Deleting Uploaded Content: You have full control over the materials you sync. You can delete individual user-uploaded content (including specific PDFs, URLs, and raw text) at any time directly within the app. Once deleted, these files are immediately removed from your active cloud storage.
• Account Deletion: You can delete your entire account and all associated Account Information by navigating to the Settings > Account menu and selecting "Delete Account." Upon account deletion, your Account Information (name, email, and password), your saved reading progress and conversation history, and all of your remaining User-Uploaded Content will be permanently removed from our active systems.

Please note that Interaction Data or document text that has already been fully anonymized and decoupled from your identity (as described in Section 4) may be retained to continue improving our AI models.

8. Policy Updates

• Minor Changes: We will update the 'Last Updated' date at the top of this page.
• Major Changes: If we significantly change how we handle your data, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice before the changes take effect.
